What does Weaveplane actually create?Getting started

Weaveplane creates a project operating model: the methodology layers, recurring practices, meetings, accountabilities, decision rights, records, safeguards, and first actions needed to run a particular project. It is more than a methodology label and less than a task-management system.

What do I need before starting a project profile?Getting started

A project name and a short description of the intended outcome, main parties, constraints, expected change, and consequences of failure are enough. Known team members are useful but optional because ownership can be resolved after compilation.

What is the difference between the project profile and methodology stack?Getting started

The project profile describes the conditions around the work, such as criticality, change tolerance, complexity, regulation, and team scale. The methodology stack is the operating response Weaveplane compiles from those conditions and the selected industry safeguards.

Why does Weaveplane say Scrum-informed Agile Delivery instead of Scrum?Methodologies

The current Agile Delivery layer uses recognizable Scrum and Kanban rhythms, including iteration planning, daily coordination, refinement, review, and retrospective. It does not yet claim full Scrum conformance because a full Scrum implementation must preserve the complete role, accountability, artifact, commitment, and event model.

Does the CPM module calculate the critical path?Methodologies

Weaveplane governs CPM schedule development, update cadence, evidence, review, ownership, and recovery actions. Network, float, and simulation calculations remain in a specialist scheduling tool. This boundary is shown as workflow capability rather than calculation capability.

Can Stage-Gate, Agile Delivery, and CPM be used together?Methodologies

Yes. Stage-Gate can govern major authorization decisions, Agile Delivery can govern short-cycle learning and delivery, and CPM can govern the logic-linked milestone schedule. Weaveplane explains the responsibility of each layer so the combination does not become an unnamed hybrid.

What does Source & selection show?Methodologies

External lineage names the authoritative publisher record. Weaveplane interpretation explains the locally authored layer and capability boundary. Selection rule records the deterministic rule, safeguard, default, or owner choice. Project evidence shows the confirmed signal that triggered that selection, when an exact saved mapping exists. External publishers do not endorse Weaveplane.

Why are some accountabilities shown as unfilled?People and roles

The compiled model identifies the accountabilities required by its practices. Unfilled means no real person has been assigned yet, not that Weaveplane expects a fixed team size. One person may cover several accountabilities, and specialists or contributors can participate without holding a governance accountability.

Are job titles the same as Weaveplane accountabilities?People and roles

No. Job titles describe a person's organizational context, while Weaveplane accountabilities describe who owns a project outcome or decision. A Planning Engineer, Product Manager, Lead Developer, or HSE Lead can hold one or more Weaveplane accountabilities without changing their job title.

What should I do after the operating model is compiled?Activation

Open Start and use the Activation path. Confirm owners and evidence in sequence, prepare the next operating cycle, schedule required events when project timing is known, publish governed records, and connect communication and capacity evidence. The activation checklist stays attached to that model version.

How should the Activation path be used?Activation

Treat it as a deterministic sequence, not a schedule promise. Confirm each accountable role and required input, produce the named output records, and use the relative stages to move from a sound baseline into the next delivery or governance cycle. Run contains the full practices-by-phase plan.

What does it mean that Weaveplane is the governing system?Integrations

Weaveplane remains authoritative for methodology, approved accountabilities, decision policy, and operating-model versions. Connected platforms contribute factual observations or execute approved setup. External changes become evidence or proposals rather than silently rewriting the governed model.

What will Notion, Google Calendar, Slack, Float, and Linear each do?Integrations

Notion is the collaborative knowledge and governed-record workspace. Google Calendar carries required meetings, participants, invitations, attendance, and transcript context. Slack contributes identities, channels, collaboration context, and notifications. Float contributes availability, allocations, time off, and actual effort. Linear carries approved work packages and returns factual projects, cycles, issues, assignments, estimates, and delivery progress.

Are all one-click integrations live now?Integrations

The provider model, data authority rules, connection states, sync ledger, Float and Linear inbound connectors, and version-aware activation handoffs are implemented. Full OAuth connection and outbound deployment for Notion, Google Calendar, Slack, and customer Linear workspaces still require provider credentials and their production connection workflows.

Why does Weaveplane save immutable versions?Versions and checks

A saved version is an auditable statement of how the project was expected to run at that point in time. Later diagnostics create a new version instead of rewriting history, allowing teams to compare changed practices, roles, evidence, and profile conditions.

What is the difference between an error and a warning?Versions and checks

An error means the compiled model has a structural problem that can make a practice unusable, such as missing required evidence. A warning means the model can still run but should be reviewed, such as an ownership gap or evidence-rigor mismatch. Each finding includes a plain-language correction.

When should I use Expert view?Versions and checks

Use Guided view to understand and activate the model. Use Expert view when you need canonical method identities, conformance, capability boundaries, source references, compatibility, fingerprint evidence, or the compiler's decision trail.

02 / Glossary

The language used in the engine

Accountability
Ownership of an outcome or decision in the operating model, separate from a person's job title.
Artifact
A governed project record produced or consumed by a practice, such as a charter, risk register, or integrated schedule.
Capability level
The strongest promise a method pack makes: guidance, workflow, calculation, or integration.
Conformance
How closely a Weaveplane method pack implements a named external method or standard.
Methodology stack
The delivery methods, governance layers, and control modules combined for one project.
Practice
A repeatable project routine with a purpose, cadence, participants, inputs, and outputs.
Project profile
The confirmed project conditions used as evidence for methodology decisions.
Safeguard
An industry or regulatory constraint that preserves required controls even when the profile suggests a lighter model.

Still unsure where to begin?

Start with the project, not a methodology label

Describe the work and confirm its conditions. Weaveplane will explain the stack it recommends and preserve every decision as evidence.
